Dr. Tiky Swain is a native of Windsor North Carolina, attended The University of North Carolina receiving her Bachelors of Arts in Biology.

She later received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the UNC School of Dentistry.

While in dental school, Dr. Swain was committed to improving access to dental care to underserved and underprivileged individuals by participating in numerous free clinics and screenings. After graduation, she lent her skills as dental  director of a community health center in Wadesboro  North Carolina
